io ritorno

Ciao a tutti!

Finally I sit down and decide to write a lil bit on this blog, which has been on hold for the past 3 months. A lot of things have been going since March 22. Classes got too demanding especially portfolio class. Which for me was one of those that was pretty challenging
with all nighters and the idea of trying to wow that killer Prof, but everything turn out Fabuloso and I got A! Yup and A....So all of those sleepless nights and tears were so worth it. Another thing was that on May 25 was my AAS graduation at Radio City. My grandparents who haven't really been to NYC in about 50 years came from P.R. They were really comforting and we tried to take them to all the places they wanted to see. After that we spent a couple of days down in NC at my parents. Now that summer started and I'm taking a summer speech class which has been pretty intense.
Another thing is that I got an internship with a cute flip flop company called Sand By Saya. Its been a month since I started and its been a great experience and exposure to the industry even though it is a small company. But I like the idea of a small company because we pretty much do everything our selves and we don't have one defined thing to do. Plus everybody is pretty sweet.

Oh did I tell you a turned 20!? yes that's another thing. I'm 20 now. Wow!!! that's pretty scary. My birthday was on June 23 and my boss got me a cute cake. I also had a little picnic with my FIT people, which turned out into a rooftop party down in the financial district. It was fun. Really!!! The past few years I really haven't had a birthday party, so this one turned out to be one of the best in the last 3 years.
Oh oh oh!!! guess what is the best birthday present I received this year???....

FIT Scholarship. Yes yes yes! after 2 years of trying and crying and showing up in the Financial Aid office regularly I finally got some dough. Ou gowsh! I still cant believe it. Every time i went they said no no NOOOOO money for you, but finally I guess they got tired of me a finally decided to give me some free money.

So far everything is going great! And I have to say that I cant wait till school starts to get my hand on and learn some new stuff.

Nothing else to say about my life.
Ciao ragazzi!

His Favorite Color was Yellow

One of my liberal arts this semester is Modern Art. If you are a normal two year FIT student you are required to take 2 History of Art classes. I choose Modern Art because I wanted to explore more this subject and not just say that I go to the MoMa to see art that's modern.

One of the artist we study about is Van Gogh. I'm pretty sure everybody has heard this name
and in some point of your life you have seen Van Gogh's famous Starry Night. But there is more to this guy. He was extremely emotional and lived a very short life. He basically became crazy and killed himself.

Basically I'm writing this post because I can't stop thinking about Van Gogh's sunflowers....

and there is more where this came from.
There is a full series of them.

A Fighters Reward

One of the things I was looking forward to this semester is my belt design class. The first 2 assignments were just simple straight belts, one raw edge and one turned edge, and this past week our 3rd belt, the shaped belt, was due and this is what it looks like...

The inspiration for this was the shape of a fighters belt and its focal point.

feedback on it?

Très Fatigué

It's been long since I don't post in this blog. School started and it's been crazy and tiring ever since it did. Classes are tough this semester, but I was warned, so it does not really surprise me. I've also been working which is a new thing for me cause I've never have had a really job before.I work as a Student Ambassador, which is a pretty fun one because I get to do fun stuff around school.

My trip to Puerto Rico was an ok one. There wasn't to much excitement going on, but I got to spend some time with my grandparents, who are always supportive of me with all the stuff I want to do. One of the highlights of the trip was that I got to spend sometime with my dog, Minnie, which I miss so much. We got to do so many things that we used to do together like sleeping and going for walks together. I can't really say that I regret the trip, but I wish that I had done other things I wanted to do.

Since school started I haven't really done much, just school work. But I got to do some pretty exciting things during fashion week like going to Fashion's Night Out and parties. I got to reunite with one of my best friends from high school who just recently moved to NYC, which was nice because we lost communication and we got the chance to catch up.I also got to go to the US Open Women's final, which was really a priceless moment.

I don't have interesting pictures of what I've done lately, but here are some random ones...

Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of fall!

The Intro.

First of all, my name is Nathalie and I'm originally from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, a town located in the central north coast of the island. My parents currently live in North Carolina and I stay with family in New Jersey while I attend college in NYC. Ever since I stepped foot in this great city I knew this was the place that I wanted to go to school. I'm currently a student at the Fashion Institute Of Technology majoring in Accessories Design, which is one of my many passions.

I love to explore and learn about things that inspire and are unknown to me. Everything like: music, art, food, cultures, languages, and places, but most importantly about fashion and how it comes to life. With this blog I will share with you things I find interesting and inspiring as well as life experiences and daily thoughts.

Sometimes I like to express myself in spanish, but I'll try my best in translating or explaining it in english. If you have any comments, questions or corrections feel free to tell me (I know I'm no the best at writing), it will be well appreciated.
