The Southern Part of Heaven

Chapel Hill,NC, nicknamed "The Southern Part of Heaven", is one of my favorite places in North Carolina. Being home to UNC (University of North Carolina) and having that college town feeling, I absolutely adore this place. Since I'll be leaving, to go back to NYC/NJ soon, I just didn't want to leave without visiting CH. Every time I go I love grabbing something to eat, walk around downtown, checkout the cute shops and then go over to Carrboro, which is a small town 3 minutes away from downtown CH, to grab some ice cream.

So, this past Saturday my parents and I decided to go down there. Here are some of the thing we did...

Yummy Noodle's

Hunting for good noodle restaurants is our new favorite thing to do and this time we discovered Noodles & Company, which is a small casual restaurant chain from Denver,Colorado.
Me enjoying my noodles
Dad excited about the menu (cute menu design by the way)

I definitely recommend Noodles & Company, so if you see one stop and have some yummy noodles!

Franklin St.

After the yummy noodles we went for a walk down Franklin street (name after Benjamin Franklin), which in this case is like the main street of town where you can find cute vintage thrift shops, indy cafes, restaurants and bookstores. I always like to stop at Time After Time which has been in business for over 25 years now. They have everything from one of a kind buttons to old cowboy boots.Franklin street sidewalk

Carrboro, NC

Then we decided to go to the historic Carr Mill Mall, located in Carrboro, which was build in 1898 and used as a cotton mill. The mall has nice shops and eateries. I always stop at Mullberry Silks, a fabric store, they have a small but exclusive selection of fabrics and buttons.Nina and Dad at the Carr Mill Garden

After browsing around Carr Mill's we went across the street to Maple View Farm Ice Cream where they make their own ice cream from the milk of their own cow's. It is just homemade goodness allover! I had the Carolina Crunch which consist of vanilla ice cream with butterfinger, heath bar and caramel. In front of the creamery!

Sometimes I say that I'm going to change my major and go to UNC and of course live in CH or Carrboro, but NYC is where I am and where I have always wanted to be. Then again never say never, maybe in the end this is where I'll end up.

So, if you have a chance to come to NC pass by Chapel Hill, you'll love it.

  2. Chapel Hill & Carrboro are two of my favorite towns in North Carolina. The Tar Heel Spirit is everpresent, the earthy, organic life style, and the food is Great. Also need to add that one of the best hospitals UNC hospital is in Chapel Hill.
